The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
Sometimes we are tempted to see the other side of the world. This side is a bad world full of broken people, some say. But it is also full of beautiful things that lure you deeper into its depths. This book lets you dive into those depths and lets you come back safely to the real world again richer than before.
The book tells Theo Decker’s life story from his thirteens to adulthood. Theo survives miraculously in an accident which kills his mother. Abandoned by his alcoholic father Theo struggles to find a stable home for himself. Theo is taken in by his friend’s wealthy family. They introduce the lavishing world of New York’s penthouse owners to young Theo. While Theo grows up he faces the many faces of the world, the bad as well as the good. He has to find his own path on his own around people who try to track him down into the rabbit hole.
Theo has a secret which is wrapped into dozens of layers of tape huts him while growing up. It draws him towards a dusty old antique shop and dark underworld of art.

I encourage everyone to read this book in its original language, English. The language is not too complicated and the story is pretty easy to follow. Ones you open the book it is impossible to close it again!

Theon täytyy löytää oma tiensä ihmisten keskellä, jotka yrittävät vetää hänet syvälle omiin omituisiin maailmoihinsa New Yorkin luksus maailmassa kuten myös Las Vegasin vaarallisissa rikollis ympyröissä.
